Current pro sports leagues are rich with tradition. Generations have grown up with there hometown teams. Attempts to compete with new rival leagues such as USFL, WHA even the ABA failed because they just offered more of the same.

Is fan allegiance towards any one team as strong as it used to be?

  Would fans accept brand new leagues that offer something different, "fan participation" leagues versus the existing "passive fan" traditional leagues? 0% 0%

Though pro sports as we now know them can be fun and exciting to watch, there are many underlieing issues that haunt the fans.

  Do you agree that it's the background issues such as player salaries, ticket prices and lack of player & owner respect for the fans that frustrate the fans most?

Our society is built on plurality, we have Democrats - Republicans, McDonald's - Burger King (Wendy's), Ford - Chevy (Chrysler, foreign & GM), SBC - Verizon, etc.

  Do you think additional pro sports leagues can compete?

Salaries for current pro sport athletes have skyrocketed. In fact, it's the number one complaint amongst fans towards pro sports including the current steroid issue. Since current players contract for potential before play even begins, a host of other issues come into play including players now have become entertainers instead of being competitors, the contract year were players noticeably excel than slack after a new contract, the wrong players

Their are huge discrepancies in team revenues and team expenditures. Some teams spend as much as 5 times what other teams spend on player payroll. The difference in size of markets make it near impossible for the current leagues to offer balanced competition. Attempts like luxury taxes and salary caps are ineffective as they are circumvented or not abided to by egotistical owners.

Todays sports fans have a lot more disposable income and free leisure time. Todays fans also have many more pasttimes - video games, fantasy sports - to choose from and many venues to risk their money including lottery, day trading, riverboat and casino gambling.

Do you agree that the fans should be recognized as being just as important in the make-up of pro sports as the owners and the players themselves?

Steriods are a huge topic in the world of sports. Some people believe there OK as they give them the edge to become the superior athlete. Others believe it's both a bad example for today's youth and it also takes away from the objectivity of comparing todays athletes against previous generation athletes.
