After serving 60 days in Cook County Jail and proclaiming he will become a role model, Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson found himself on familiar ground — in a police station in Gilbert, AZ, after being arrested for speeding and possibly driving under the influence. The arrest took place on June 23, 2007, at 3:30 a.m.
Johnson has already been suspended for six-to-eight games for the 2007 National Football League season. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell left the door open to cut the suspension to six games. He went to jail recently for violating his parole on a weapons arrest.
(What kind of a professional sports system allows highly-paid athletes to engage in blatantly anti-social behavior. Why didn’t the Bears terminate him? What is somebody like Johnson, who is living under a microscope, doing out at 3:30 a.m.?)
