Superstar QB Allegedly Involved in Dog-Fighting 06/24/2007A chilling dog-fighting video aired on ESPN was aired in conjunction with the announcement that an investigation had been opened regarding Atlanta Falcons’s Quarterback Michael’s Vick’s alleged involvement in this illegal "sport." Investigators are now looking into a dog-fighting operation in Virginia. Pens housing pit balls adjacent to Vick’s home were located in an aerial photo. The case began in late April with police raided a home owned by Vick in Surry, VA, in conjunction with a drug investigation. In the process, they found 66 dogs of which 55 were pit bulls. They also found dog-fighting related equipment such as a "pry bar," that is used to pry apart dogs’ jaws. (Here is one of the National Football League’s "poster children." The ESPN video was so powerful that some of sports radio’s toughest commentators were shaken by it. Even if convicted and forced to go to prison, the present professional sports system will always find a place for someone with the pure athletic ability that Michael Vick possesses.) Go Back...
